Let's be honest, belles and beaus. Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your lives. You and your fiancé(e) have spent countless hours planning each and every detail, and have (hopefully) budgeted appropriately.
According to The Knot 2014 Real Weddings Survey, couples spent an average of nearly $32,000 on their wedding, the highest figures since 2007. As the cost of weddings continues to climb, wedding insurance is more important that ever. You wouldn't purchase a new car without insuring it, so don't treat your wedding any differently!
Why Do I Need Wedding Insurance?
Even with the most meticulous planning, something pertaining to your wedding will likely go wrong. With so many moving parts, it's definitely best to plan for the "what if" scenarios that could derail your perfect day. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, my Grandma always said.
Think about it...
- What if a natural disaster struck on your wedding day? (Over 8,000 weddings were disrupted by Hurricanes Irene & Sandy!)
- What if the photographer's memory card was corrupted and they couldn't provide your photos?
- What if a vendor goes out of business, double-books, or their facilities are rendered unusable?
- What if a sudden illness or accident caused you to postpone the wedding?
Okay, okay, we'll stop scaring you now, but you get the gist. In a perfect world, none of these things would matter, but unfortunately, it's not a perfect world. If the unthinkable occurs, you need a plan in place to protect all the time and money you've invested in your wedding.
For the cost of one extra guest, a wedding insurance policy can provide you with peace of mind, and THAT is absolutely priceless.
Our Insurance Recommendations
After a lot of research, we really can't say enough about The Wedding Protector Plan offered by Travelers Insurance. It's a no-deductible policy, it provides cancellation/postponement insurance coverage, and you can also opt to add private event liability as an endorsement to your private event insurance policy. Best of all, policies can be purchased up to two years in advance. (Even if you don't purchase coverage that early in your planning, you should definitely purchase your coverage before you start signing contracts or paying deposits.)
You can't go wrong protecting an investment of this magnitude. Give yourself the peace of mind you & your wedding plans deserve.
